Observation By Gabriel Dinda
You do not need to bother how many they are, all you need to get are the tips I used to be safe during Valentine. First, there are conditions you must meet. You must understand their psychology so well. You must know who among them is strict, keen, careless and emotional. After that you tell them what exactly they want to hear. That is what I was taught in Critical Thinking class.
Firstly, I made sure I gave all of them high hopes. That was by Wednesday. One I promised to take to Machakos People’s Park, for a tour. Another, I promised to take to Helicopter Church or Jet Fighter Church, Umoja for courtesy call. The other three were to be taken to other places within the reach of our financial pockets. I made sure that we anticipated for these visits so much. The whole of Thursday was spent chatting on how superb the day would be. To be honest, I subscribed for the Safaricom’s cursed 500 SMS to do this.
Steph the sympathizer
From general knowledge, I know Steph is the type to sympathize, so I started from her. I called her in the eve of the material day and asked her if she could come to my place ( I knew she couldn’t because I had seen her go to her place in Lucky Summer earlier). She told me that it was late and she could not make it, perhaps the next day. I never explained anything. I texted her and told her that I was feeling really ill and my room mate was not around, so I wanted her to escort me to the health facility( By saying this, she knows I value her and remembers her during my low times,mmmh???). She then called my room mate (who responded promptly by taking me to the ‘hospital’), though we were both in the room. This was one problem solved. My room mate and I lost touch with her after going to the ‘hospital’.
Faith the Deputy Head teacher (Strict)
I knew Faith was no nonsense; she kept her promises and therefore expects all promises made to her to be kept. She is the one I promised to take to Helicopter Church. She lives far away from me and only comes over during the weekends. Again, I sent her some credit (100)[To kill her thoughts]. She appreciated. I then welcomed her for dinner that evening. I knew she would not come, since it was not a weekend. When she declined, I got ‘angry’. I asked her why she can’t treat me like other ladies treat their men. We quarreled a bit and hanged up. She was the one who called. She got pissed off and switched off her phone. I never got back to her until Friday evening. Valentine’s had gone by; just by creating artificial shortage of peace.
Atieno the Keen Mother
Atieno is so keen, she reads one’s facial expression and can tell when you’re lying and when saying the truth. I couldn’t lie to her, but I would be honest to her. I had promised to take her to Machakos, to see Alfred Mutua. On Thursday night, I proposed to her to let alone the Machakos plan so that we would go to children’s home in Ruiru. I knew she would not agree to this. When she declined, I reminded her of her own background and why she had to remember others. She accused me of being petty and told me ‘to stay with my Valentine’s’. So far, we have solved three problems, you don’t need to worry how I did the rest, but at the end of the day, I never spent a coin on the withery rose flower, neither did I wear any red clothing
Lesson;
Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none, but GIVE YOUR LIFE ONLY TO GOD.
How I managed all of ‘them’ during the valentine.
