THE FUTURE OF WRITERS IS HERE.

BY REAGAN NYADIMO
LET’S START FROM HERE
Annual release of both K.S.C.E and K.C.P.E have continued to reveal worrying trend in the performance of language related subjects.  Over the years stakeholders and school heads have been put to task to explain the dwindling performance in subjects that are believed to be the future of this country. Numerous reasons have been cited with technology taking the lion’s share of the blame. The effects of these dismal performance in language subjects have spilled over to the job market with employers  questioning the legitimacy of graduates and regarding them as half-baked as majority lack soft skills needed for entry levels in most companies.
BROKEN COMMUNICATION
 Communication which is a key attribute employers are looking for is lacked by thousands of graduates who cannot sell themselves to prospective employers. This has given avenues for the current mushrooming of professional bodies who mint money from graduates to draft both their CVS and generic cover letters that would draw attention of employers and earn them their dream jobs. I am yet to meet and individual who have earned employment through this means as majority are left out in the interview stages due lack of presentations and inability to defend their CVS before the panel of experts.
NO TIME TO READ
Ironically, majority of Kenyans thirst for knowledge, yet a few have the time to comb through books to equip them with the prerequisite knowledge to help them navigate through their daily lives. From students whose lives depends on “GOOGLE” to employees who worship social sites that have made them zombies of abbreviations’. Overall effect, workforce with little knowledge on report and proposal writing, presentation skills and drafting official letters on behalf of the company.
This power gap have created thousands of jobs both outside many companies and colleges. Majority of the jobs ranges from proposal writing, report writing and thesis for master students. Take a walk around the periphery of our campuses and colleges and you will not miss a notice promising students to submit their works at subsidized costs. Majority of employees are also in touch with students who can complete their reports in good time for submission.
SPACE FOR YOU TO FILL
Currently as things stands, writing still remains a field that have not been exploited to the fullest mainly because of the spirit of Kenyans who would rather spend fortunes on entertainment  rather than buy books. This has created a deficit of Knowledge on areas that would have seen this country in similar ranks as the super-powers. Kenya is known to be a drinking Nation. And this is the major reason why we past a constitution that was read on our behalf and decisions made on our behalf. The ripple effect is the confusion the country is facing currently with the calls for referendum looming. Which chapters are you conversant with in the new constitution? I bet none. And this is why the government will send millions of shillings to professional bodies who have breed the culture of reading to explain for you the content of the constitution incase the referendum sails through.
This only leaves the sky as the limit for passionate writers and readers of our generations who will stop at nothing to comb through the books for knowledge.
Should you be a writer, beware, there is a big niche for you to fill, all you need is commitment. At Writers Guild, you will be refined, at the end of it all, we shall all smile.

7 WAYS TO GET THE BEST OUT OF YOUR CAMPUS LIFE

By Shunnet N Sylvia, K.U
A lot has been said concerning Campus life;good and bad in equal measure. To some, the process is regarded as completely useless regarding the rocky employment terrain in Kenya today and the unforgiving unemployment figures. Thisnotwithsatnding, you realize Campus is still the home to good brains and those whose lives are dotted with golden lines. Is it therefore possible to set yourself apart from the critics and get the best out of your Campus stay? Of course, yes…
TAKE ADVANTAGE
Most of us, do not bother to be conscious of their environment, they take too long to internalize the fact that the ultimate goal of employment (if that is yours), might not be easy to achieve without adding some spice to their profile. The time taken blinds them and hence barring them from taking advantage of goodies offered. Take advantage of the facilities offered by the college. A lot is offered, by the way- in terms of opportunities to meet admired figures and business moguls through clubs and societies, departmental talks and other forums. Take advantage of such and ensure you maximize their utilities. You never know who you will meet in such engagements, they could shape your destiny.
BE MODERATE
Campus is the last place where you should opt to exercise your extremism. Is it news, if I tell you that the number of students who die mysteriously have increased across all our campuses? I doubt if it is. At one point, you hear of a rave gone sour, another time, you hear some student bouncer is shot mysteriously at an event, another time, you hear, one is hacked to death after a drinking spree. The stories are of all sorts. Campus presents the best chance to terminate or misdirect your life. It is a very good agent of fate. The best way to avoid any nasty story, be moderate in your moves, do not purpose to vent your high school ‘hunger’ on Campus, it could be a trap…
BEFRIEND LECTURES
Most students care very carelessly even to know the names of their lecturers. Therefore, the lectures interaction with the students remain a very lonely one. Unknown to many, the lectures form the best of friends for the focused. If you befriend them, of course, you know the extent to reach, they will not mind sharing with you a number of many beneficial information. I have a friend, who graduated and went to his lecturer (whom he had earlier befriended), and asked him for the contacts of one of his former students whom he had supervised in his project. The lecturer indeed helped him get a guy who eventually helped him get a job, today, the guy is a bigwig at City Hall.

UPDATE YOUR PHONE BOOK
The contacts you make in Campus prove to be very important after Campus Life. If you watch the moves in the political field and even the corporate world, you realize former class mates literally gang up to move the country’s economy. Therefore, the contacts you have in your phone book could prove to be very important later. Make friends, I mean valuable friends. Do not be afraid to discard those who give you more disutility. As was said, by former deputy Chief justice, ‘you must know people’. Make friends, avoid enemies.
DO NOT LEAVE ANY STONE UNTURNED
If your Campus offers students a free chance to study Chinese or any other foreign language, why do you mind giving it a shot. You will find that the lessons will be in such a way that the lessons will not coincide with normal classes. Imagine, when you leave the campus gate, you will be required to chuck huge chunks of ‘chums’ to do some of the things offered free of charge in your campus. The same applies to all the facilities provided within your campus. Leaving any stone unturned will make you guilty after graduation. If you realized, I never talked about the other side of ‘leaving any stone unturned’, those of testing every bottle and sleeping in every hostel-gender notwithstanding. It all comes back to personal choice.
BE CAREFUL WITH CAMPUS POLITICS
If you have realized, Campus politics have shaped the political career of many people in Kenya. However, it is also good to note that a number of people, who media are afraid focus on, have also shed tears as a result of the same. A good number of people have been expelled because of the same. Talking about strikes in this case is not fair, but you understand what I mean. As much as it is good to be relevant politically in the Campus, it is wise to be careful. Getting the best for yourself out of campus might require you to be sober and careful in your deals. This should not shutter your political dreams, but remember to be careful.
RETAIN THE INDIVIDUALISM IN YOU

With all the girlfriends and buddies, you will realize at the end that you will remain who you are. Your personality will always remain after passing through the graduation square. Most things done in groups in campus are always enjoyed individually; they could also be regretted individually. Therefore it is only wise to retain the individuality so as to realize ones goals
Campus present opportunities and setbacks in equal measure. Individual choice plays a major role but realization of once purpose is important.As they said, the same sun which hardens clay is the same one which melts wax.

POETIC FRIDAY: YESTERDAY, I MET MY WIFE

Yesterday I met My Wife.

By Gabriel Dinda

Yesterday I met my wife, she is not the lady I earlier told you about. No, that was not my wife.

That one is a little lower classed that my wife. My wife is a bit different, if you look at her in a close range, you might think she is a model, but again when you look at her from a distance, say four kilometers away, you might think she is a not dressed in any clothing.

So when I looked at her in from close range, I saw a deep hole in her cheeks so that when she smiles the hole opens to the prevailing winds from the west to flow in smoothly forming a curve, a curve which is a little less than that the one formed in her hips. The left cheek  has another hole, when you look at it when she smiles, the muscles relax a bit to form a coalition with the rest of the body.

Her breasts are not tired of standing- they are competing competitively with force of gravity. They are pointing at a direction in which her eyes are facing.

Her eye brows are not extinct yet. They look natural, like those of Nyar Maasai…they have not been slashed and replaced with atoms of graphite in pencil…
…her buttocks are appetizing, when she walks, they tilt like the earth, it is like they are at a 90 degrees point so that they are congruent with her shaking breasts…When you look at the buttocks, take care not to carry eggs in your hands, because they will fall. The Minister for Sports and Culture had wrote a proposal to buy them….No I can’t allow….

This is the wife of mine whom I told you I will wait for…she is the one whom I once directed to my house but confused and went to Otieno’s hat….Otieno can’t marry this lady, she is not Otieno’s …she is mine…I told Otieno to come to me and  take her Adhys away from my vicinity…I want my wife, the brown, tall tangible Atis Baiby….I want my wife, the natural, well stocked, never-drying wife…I want you here…I want you right here with me.

POETIC FRIDAY: MY BELOVED

By Caetry  Carole Nyabeta

MY BELOVED.

Dance for me, my beloved,
With the rhythm of thine flag,
Bestow upon me thy charm,
Embedded in your colors of identity,
Oh my beloved!

Dance with me…
For me, and with me, she danced,
Whirling in a tornado of cries,
Awakening seemingly settled dusts,
The good people, the bad truths, the ugly realities,
Oh my beloved,
Trample with me…

Trample with me, my beloved,
Crushing the borders of class,
Join my tango,
From capitalistic arguments we untangle,
Look down upon the floor not,
Oh my beloved!
Trudge to me…

Trudge to me, my beloved,
Caress me with your jolly pretty smile,
Worth a thousand rays of sun,
Penetrate through the darkness of impunity,
Light up the corruption of morals,
Oh my beloved!
Sing to me…

Sing to me, my beloved,
With thine voice that condemneth injustice,
Grace me with your pure vocals,
Sounding the alarm for undermined truths,
disregarded fairness,
Oh my beloved!
Dance with me…

Dance with me, my beloved,
To the rhythm of new found truths,
Wave your elegantly colored skin to the flawless
diversity
Sway our bodies to the ululations of served justice,
Oh my beloved,
For we are one,
Dance with me.

Sure Ways to Improve Your Love Life

Evance Omondi David, Kenyatta University.
Kenyatta University's Cyprian Aende and his Fiance' Mercy Modester, having good times together

There are various factors that usually results into low sexual desire as well as erectile dysfunction in men. To begin with, erectile dysfunction is mostly due to too much alcohol intake, too much stress and poor dietary. Weight gain, diabetes as well as low levels of testosterone hormone are also some of the factors leading to poor

sexual life in men. According to various research publications, testosterone hormone is one of the important elements in the body that helps the brain and the body to be healthy and sharp as well. This is because this hormone promotes muscle power and also prevents erectile dysfunction in men. The hormone is produced mainly in the testicles of human beings and begins too decline in men at middle age. Researchers also argue that the hormone is responsible for the male characteristics development, muscles growth as well as fat distribution in the body. As a matter of fact, the hormone is the main initiator of sexual drive in men especially at adolescent and in the middle age. Therefore, low levels of this hormone in the body leads to faster weight gain, high incidences of obesity and poor fat distribution in the body. These factors may lead to heart diseases and type two diabetes in men. Proper balance of the hormone is necessary in the body as low levels of the hormone are associated with high chances of high blood pressure and stroke in older men.
 In females, research indicates that the hormone estrogen that usually provides sexual drive is also important as it reduces wangeci syndrome. Low levels of both testosterone and estrogen in human beings mostly results into low sexual desire, low levels of male erections as well as infertility in both male and females.
In females again, emotional imbalances contributes largely to poor sexual drive as this reduces their self-confidence, increase depression, leads to low motivation and concentration levels. It is usually recommended that men avoid too much stress, excessive alcohol intake as this affects the brain signals and communication leading thyroid disorders and largely affects the nervous communication system.
There are various life style systems that can help individuals to boost their testosterone levels in the body. Firstly, eating vegetables, lean proteins and regular exercise are one of the factors that promote testosterone levels in the body. Low intake of sugars and regular sex is also very significant in increasing testosterone levels in men. Research indicates that the male testes produce testosterone through conversion of cholesterol into testosterone, thus eating healthy fats is also very critical in providing proper testosterone in the body. The main source of cholesterol includes foods such as fish, avocado, eggs, nuts and red meat. In that sense, eating these foods will improve your sexual desire and will also reduce erectile dysfunction in men. However, foods such as too much man made fats in various fried foods, sugars and carbohydrates usually results into weight gain along the waistline and may contribute to high chances of diabetes and heart diseases including stroke and high blood pressure.

All in all, it is important that those who want to achieve healthy sexual life have enough sleep and avoid high levels of stress as this lower the levels of testosterone hormone in the body. Stress is mostly responsible for the production of the cortisol hormone that reduces and interferes with the functions of testosterone and also can promotes weight gain and development of diabetes. It is also worth noting, that exercise is also very important as it reduces stress and balance various hormones in the body. In fact, regular exercise usually provides even distribution of fats in the body, increase muscle mass and reduces the risk of chronic disorders. Finally, in order for one to be both physically and mentally fit for sexual activity it is important that testosterone levels in the body be proper and well balance. It is my wish and hope that you will adopt these healthy lifestyle habits to improve your sexual life and to boost your testosterone levels in the body.

HELB TO BE DISBURSED THIS WEEK FOR MOI UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

Penulis : Unknown on Monday, 28 July 2014 | 06:20

Monday, 28 July 2014

The first Phase of HELB Loan Disbursement for this Academic Year (2014/15) will take place in the course of this week. Speaking to 3rd Eye on Phone, a top HELB Official who sought anonymity confirmed this, an update that would finally give comrades a reason to smile. “We are hoping to have the first batch disbursed in the course of this week, then the others would follow” he said. He also revealed that the first lot that may be lucky, is that of applicants whose forms were submitted before the initial deadline was extended. “The other group will get its share soonest afterwards,” he added. “Perhaps, in the following week.” Similar assurance that the HELB Offices had prior given to the MUSO office. DIVERSE SPENDING This might come as good news to majority of comrades whose pockets had started echoing the hums of distress. After several weeks of anxiety, a ray of hope is finally setting in. It would be interesting to see how the money is spent especially at a time that nearly everyone was getting broke. Aspiring candidates for the forth coming MUSO Elections can also count on a financial backing, especially for the campaigns. Leave alone those with intentions to replace blown cooking coils, repairing woofers and paying semester club subscriptions. Am told some will also use it to pay, debts accruing from bets of the just ended FIFA World Cup. {Adopted from Moi University Press Club, the 3rd Eye}

#Brazilian
''THE BACK''
N so brazil tasted the setback;
Thought in the 2nd half they'd make a comeback;
Never knew wud say 2018 we'll come back;
The coke clueless at halftime said 'we won we won';
Now I can back her sentiments, Germans did;
Germans then sat back;
Waiting for a chance to strike back;
Came Schurrle to pack;
Now Brazilians can reflect back;
what happened at their back;
Ineffective were the back-ups;
Forever curse what irked Neymar's back;
Silva too let the team aback;
Absurd n sad, 2018 we'll be back!!
